What we are learning?
In reading, students begin their reading routine with Read to Self Time and then Buddy Fluency Time where they track their WPM on a daily basis. Depending on our reading rotation students then participate in various mini-lessons that focus on skills and vocuabulary for the unit /bi-weekly story. They spend several days buddy reading adjoinging leveled readers where they study and independently use various reading skills/strategies. Lastly, we end each bi-weekly story in reading stations where students listen to the Treasures story of study, engage in learning games on the I-pad, they read to other classmates from their Accelerated Reader books, read from many texts in the fluency station, critically solve word activities applying vocabulary and skills connected to the story, or meet in small groups with the teacher reviewing higher level questions and reading skills/strategies. A VOCABULARY AND SKILLS TEST FOLLOWS EACH STORY. New vocabulary words and skills are then introduced with the new bi-weekly story. Students are also encouraged on an ongoing basis to take Acclerated Reader tests after they have completed their books. The Accelerated Reader website is: https://hosted124.renlearn.com/708465/
